What Do All of the Adobe Programs Do?

Have you ever wanted to create digital content? Well, Adobe is a company that creates software that allows you to create all kinds of digital content. From photo manipulation to web design, if you have a creative vision then you can bring that vision to life with Adobe software. Depending on what you would like to achieve or create, Adobe has various plans to suit your needs. Plans range from £9.99 for one app to £49.94 for all of Adobe Creative Cloud.

In this blog, I am going to cover 8 different apps that can be used for Graphic Design, Video Editing and Web Design.

Graphic Design

There are different types of graphic design. It all depends on what you’re trying to create, as each app is tailored to do different things. Let’s look more in-depth at Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

Photoshop

I am sure that you have heard of Photoshop. This is a great app if you want to edit images or practice photo manipulation (This is when you transform and alter one or more images to achieve desired results.) An example of photo manipulation would be retouching images to remove blemishes and imperfections from a subject. Hollywood uses this practice daily.

Adobe Photoshop is a raster-based and uses pixels to create images. This means that you can edit the individual pixels of an image making it easier to manipulate photos, remove backgrounds and even add elements to your edit.

Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator is a vector based program which means that it uses mathematical equations to create images. Here is how it differs from Photoshop’s raster-based framework. If you create a shape in Photoshop and scale it up, then eventually the shape with becoming pixelated and the resolution will lower. If you create a shape in Illustrator and scale it up, no matter how big you make the shape it will always maintain its resolution because the software is using maths to create the shape.

The fact that Illustrator is vector based means that you can be more precise when creating things like logos, banner and even digital drawings. I personally use illustrator for all of my illustrations because when I draw with my brush tool a path is created. I can make a rough outline of my subject and then go back and edit the brush strokes later on. Illustrator allows you to refine your edges with precision.

Video Editing

The use of video can have a big impact when it comes to advertising your business. It is estimated that by 2021 around 82% of all internet content will be video. So what are the different video editing apps and what can they do?

Premier Pro

Adobe Premier Pro is used to cut and edit video clips. Within Premier Pro, you can add multiple videos or images to your timeline and arrange them however you like. It is very common for YouTube personalities or “YouTubers” to use Premier Pro to edit the videos that they post. Premier Pro is ideal for creating long videos or movies as you can add multiple clips to a single track in your timeline.

After Effects

Adobe After Effects is used to add visual effects to video. However, it has a lot of uses. As well as VFX, you can create service videos, video intros and overlays such as lower thirds.

With After Effects you can also create animations, this can be easily achieved if you pair this software with Adobe Illustrator. You are able to import .AI files into After Effects and create video from a still image.

Web Design

Believe it or not, Adobe has apps that can create websites. Let’s take a look – although it’s best to keep with the dedicated website design platforms such as WordPress which is exactly what our web design Liverpool team do!

Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver is great. You are able to code inside this app and it will display a visual of what your code looks like. This can save you a lot of time as you don’t have to save and open up your webpage to view what your code looks like.
