The conclusion to 2018 for Blue Whale Media

2018 was, as usual, a busy year for the team at Blue Whale Media. Most employees completed even more training courses, more websites were built than any year on record and the team grew substantially.

All in all, it was a great year for the company. But before we move into 2019, I want to take a few minutes to reflect on the successes and improvements that have or are still in the process of being made.

Growth of 2018

In 2019, we made some leaps forward with certain departments, which had a great effect on the growth of the company.

The Sales team was essentially created. This led to more projects. With more projects comes more staff. In turn, the web design team lost me as a full-time member but gained Sam, Matthew and Calum. This has, in turn, lead to some fresh ideas and design styles being brought to the company in 2018, this makes 2019 very exciting as we get to see these members develop and challenge themselves with their designs. To see our most recent designs please take a look at our portfolio.

The growth has also had a knock-on effect on the types of businesses which are now approaching Blue Whale Media Ltd. In the past twelve months, we have managed to take on some great businesses like Multi-brands and YKK. This is not just a testament to the great work that has been created by the team but also to the continued commitment of Blue Whale Media to ensure it is ahead of the game and always up to date with ensuring our staff have the best equipment, software and tools at their disposal.

Early 2018 we introduced Doc U Sign to our clients. We don’t only use this software to sign contracts though. It has been a great way of enabling our clients to complete the initial information gathering documents online, in the comfort of their own offices, easily.
With this, we have seen the turnaround of project drop by nearly 50%, which is amazing for us and the customer.

New products launched in 2018

2019 was also the year of new services. Obviously, with the above growth, there has been an element of additional or improved services on offer.

The main area Blue Whale focused on in 2018 was Media. We have invested heavily in Drone, Videography, Sound and PC’s to ensure that the team have the best equipment available to be able to complete these new services.

We have also spent significant time training all members of staff in this area and are very happy to announce we were issued our CAA Drone Pilot Licence. This is a necessary requirement if you want to do any professional Drone Media services.

We have also taken leaps forward with motion graphics to ensure that our team is complete and can offer a high-end editing and video construction services. This is in addition with the amazing motion only based videos we have been creating. Want to see more? Take a look at our portfolio.

New departments or department growth in 2018

I could go on for hours about how proud I am of the team and the qualifications they achieved in 2018, but I think the increase speaks for itself, with quality services comes more work and you can see the amazing jumps that have come from this in 2018:

  • Marketing team from 2 team members to 5
  • Design Team from 2 team members to 3
  • Web Designers from 2 team members to 5
  • Account Managers from 1 team member to 2
  • Sales from 1 team members to 3 now
Best bits of 2018

This is probably the hardest part of this blog to write. I am just so proud of everything that we accomplished in 2018. I am most proud to say that we have one of the closes, friendliest, healthiest, happiest, inclusive, talented, thankful, caring, ambitious teams I have ever known in my entire working career.

They strive every day to ensure that their work is perfect for clients and that Blue Whale Media can grow so they can also. I think this is one of the best mentalities I have ever seen in such a big group of people. In reality, there isn’t just one moment I can pick out from 2018.

What’s in store for 2019?

In 2019 I have challenged myself both personally and professionally to make sure I see the snapshots of perfection in the moments of madness. I think most people will understand that. That could be a nice email from a client praising a piece of work, or joke made in the office, or many personal moments.

But what’s coming up for Blue Whale Media? In the final weeks of 2018, the Drone service went live on the website. There will be making a big push by the marketing team for this in the first quarter. In turn, I hope we will be able to showcase lost more Drone and Media work.

We have lots more charity events lined up for 2019. We have found these a great asset to the company. Not only are they great for the deserving people we help, but they are also great for the staff and staff morale. It has also been an amazing way to get the company’s name out there in the local community.

Despite only moving in June 2017, the expansion last year has led to our offices becoming a little tight…. So we hope to move into new premises on the business park to enable us to continue the amazing growth of 2018.

In conclusion, all I have left to say is Happy New Year to all my readers. To our existing customers thank you for your business and support in 2018. To our new customers, welcome to the family and we can’t wait to show you what we can do in 2019.
