Blue Whale Media’s Annual Participation with Operation Christmas Child

Every year Blue Whale Media loves to participate in charity events close to our hearts. The Samaritans charity provides the opportunity to give back this Christmas. The event originally began in 1990 by Dave and Jill Cooke, who wanted to do something to aid the plight of Romanian orphans at the end of the Cold War. Dave’s sister, Jan, came up with the concept of the shoebox gift as a form of easily transportable ‘Christmas stockings’ wrapped and packed with love.

A real message of hope for children in the most difficult of circumstances.

Organisations can create shoeboxes filled with gifts and goodies for children to enjoy. The boxes can be for boys or girls of different age ranges, from the age of 2 all the way to early teenagers. Every child deserves to have a gift to open at Christmas. The boxes can contain toys, school supplies, hygiene items and other items.

Toys

A football and pump, cuddly toys, dolls, toy cars, small musical instruments, yo-yos, skipping ropes, balls, small puzzles etc.

School Supplies

Pens, pencils & sharpeners, crayons or felt pens, stamps & ink pad sets, writing pads or notebooks, solar calculators, colouring & picture books etc.

Hygiene Items

Toothbrush, bars of wrapped soap, comb or hairbrush, flannel etc.
Hat, gloves, scarf, sunglasses, cap, socks, T-shirt, flip-flops, hair accessories, jewellery set, watch, wind-up torch etc.

Other Items

Hat, gloves, scarf, sunglasses, cap, socks, T-shirt, flip-flops, hair accessories, jewellery set, watch, wind-up torch etc.

Our staff participate every year, and we look forward to gathering fun toys and supplies for children to open for Christmas. This year, our staff created 15 shoeboxes to send off to Operation Christmas Child. The Samaritans charity allows you to track the boxes when they have been sent off. We can’t wait to see where our boxes will end up!

On the 17th of November, some team members headed down to our local Christian fellowship church to drop off all of our boxes. We are delighted we can take part in charity events like this one.

Head over to our social media to see the video we created! You can see our Christmas elves working hard, packing our shoeboxes!
