How Do You Check Your SEO Ranking?

Want to check how your website is ranking up on the search engines?

Simply visit Google, and plug in your target keyword.

Let’s take an example. One of our target keywords is “Warrington SEO”.

So let’s type in the keyword “Warrington SEO” into the Google search bar, and click on the Search button.

Now look for your website (in our case, it is www.bluewhalemedia.co.uk). If it appears on the first page, you are on the right track. If it isn’t, then there’s work to do.

Thanks to our excellent SEO team’s consistent efforts, we are ranking on the first page of Google search for “Warrington SEO” and many other keywords.

Would you like to see your site rank on the top just like ours? No worries! We can certainly help. Let us look at some things you can do to improve your search rankings.

Structure Your Website Right

Your website’s structure has a direct impact on its ranking. For effective results, structure your site such that each page has its own target bunch of highly relevant and closely related keywords.

So don’t optimise every page on your site for a single keyword. Neither should you pool together all your keywords in every page. That’d be disastrous.

Instead, target a primary keyword and a bunch of secondary for each page.

So if you have 3 products, find out what your ideal and most lucrative keywords are for each product, and optimise each page around the respective set of keywords.

Write Search Engine Friendly Content

Content is an important ranking factor. But don’t just write for the sake of it. Random or keyword-stuffed content won’t just cut it. Instead of stuffing your content with keywords, delight your readers with useful content.

Look for topics of interest, or problems that your target audience might be facing. Try to provide a solution that problem in your content. Try to answer some of the most important questions they may be having.

Insert your keywords in H1, H2, H3 & H4 tags.

Optimise the Title Tags

The title tag is essentially the text Google will display in the SERPs.

So be sure to optimise the title page of each page for the respective primary keyword.

Don’t just stop at including the keyword. Add value to it. Make sure it describes the content that your readers can expect to read on the page. This will entice them to click on the page.

Keep the title tag under the limit of 60 characters. Aim to keep it to 55 characters, which is optimal.

Add Actionable Meta Descriptions

Your meta description is the snippet that will appear below the title in SERPs.

Even though meta descriptions don’t play a huge role in ranking your page, it helps to optimise the meta description for your keywords. This can have a direct impact on the clicks you generate.

These essential steps will ensure your website is ready to rank up on the search engines. If you need help optimising your website, get in touch with Blue Whale media today.
