My 2019 goals for Blue Whale Media
I began my time at Blue Whale Media in August 2018. I had been out of work for a couple of months. Looking through the myriad of job vacancies back in June, I came across an opening at Blue Whale Media working in sales. My previous position had been sales and I automatically thought I was cut out to do the job without a thought in the world.
Working at Blue Whale Media
Without a doubt, Blue Whale Media is the most sociable company I have ever worked for. Don’t get me wrong, it is still very professional and organised and produces quality services and products. However, there is always an element of humour. They say times flies when you’re having fun. Time truly does fly as the days seem to zip past talking to customers about their requirements and web design.
Why I chose to stay
I always thought I could sell sand to an Arab. I now know I’m very wrong. I knew nothing about websites and how they are created. Since working at Blue Whale Media I have been on one long learning curve, in fact, I’m still very much on it. I had no clue just how much there is to learn. As I have come this far I don’t want to stop. Working in the environment that we do makes me strive to become more proficient. I also work with a great team of people which helps being remaining positive and optimistic.
What does my presence bring to the company?
Ok, so I could never sell sand to an Arab! But my sales experience with customers in my previous job helps my confidence to deliver the products and services that Blue Whale Media offers. I am not yet at the level I want to be, but that is very much a hands-on exercise. The more I do it the better I get. I believe in helping my colleagues when it is needed whichever department they work in. For a sales team to work, it needs people who actually work as a team and I believe that I fit in with that ethic very well. I am proactive in finding my own leads to generate sales. This is something I feel strongly about as it is not fair to just have lead generation handed to you on a plate.
What I would like to achieve in 2019
The latter part of 2018 was a big eye-opener for me coming to work at Blue Whale Media. However, as time has gone on I feel I have much more to give and much more to get out of working here. I want to reach a level of knowledge where I can comfortably sell our main product base but to a very high standard. Beyond that, I want to be able to upsell our range of services to customers with confidence that I probably currently lack. So my main goal for 2019 is to learn, learn some more and put it all into practical use and by the end of the year be satisfied that I have done my best and achieved the best I can for Blue Whale Media with a string of good quality, self-made sales.
