Why Charity work has been so important to Blue Whale Media in 2018

As the year wraps up it’s a good time for us to reflect on how 2018 has been for Blue Whale Media. In short, it’s been a great year for the business and clients, but more importantly, it has been a great year for the staff of Blue Whale Media. Whilst like with any other company we have had our fair share of sadness we have also dedicated a lot of time and effort into supporting the topics that matter to us. It was recently mentioned on our Facebook page by someone asking what charity work we do. Now I’m not convinced this person wasn’t being antagonistic like sadly a lot of people are on social media’s, but it also made me think that maybe we need to explain why we support certain Charites. I’m going to take the time in this blog to talk about the charities and events we have supported.

Snowdon Walk

This was our first event in 2018. We had taken on a lot of new people and we thought this would be a great mix of charity work and team building. So, as you will all remember the fantastic summer, we had actually started really early this year in April. This was also the time that we had set for the climb. The team took on the challenge and despite some people finding it harder than they thought, they all helped each other and managed to get to the top and down again. With the help of one of the office dogs George! For this event, we had chosen Warrington Animal Welfare to support. If you follow Blue Whale Media or any of our Social Media’s you will know that myself and Gary have three dogs, George (springer) Molly (cocker) Sid (pug). These three hounds come to the office every day and keep the staff & us calm and entertained. I love dogs, as do all the staff, and if I could I would adopt every single one of them. Obviously, that’s not possible so we wanted to find a local animal charity which we could support to help our furry friends whilst they find their forever homes.

5K Fun Run & Football Match

For this, we teamed up with Birchwood Business Park in their support of Claire’s House baby hospice in Liverpool. This again was a charity close to the hearts of the team following various members fertility issues or their children’s illnesses. For the fun run the team dressed up as Gru and Minions and took on the 5k run in 29 Degree heat. They all completed the run even if they were a bit smelly after. The Charity football competition was completed by the men of Blue Whale Media and they came second losing the final match 2-0.

Charity Bakes for Macmillan & Alzheimer’s Society

These are both causes which have affected team members with family members calling on the help of Macmillan. We are also very hopeful that the great work being done by the Alzheimer’s society will change the course of this devastating condition. The team bakes and sold cupcakes, traybakes, cakes and much more achieving a great number of funds for the respective charities.

Other events that we have supported

There are so many other things we have supported this year. I’m actually sat here writing this blog wearing a Pudsey onesie. We are also doing the Veg Pledge, Santa Dash (Brainwave charity) Movember (Men’s Heath) World Ocean Day (Whales & Dolphin Conservation) Half Marathons, and so much more. If you have been watching the Facebook page they are all well documented.

What does 2019 have to offer

Next year we will be taking part in all the yearly events, Red Nose Day, Children In Need, Alzheimers Cupcake Day, MacMillan Coffee Morning. But we also have some special events planned from skydiving to climbing Ben Nevis! So stay tuned and we hope you all join us in supporting these amazing charities.
