Different types of Drones

Over the last few years, commercial and consumer drones have been getting more popular. This is due to the demand for aerial footage and imagery to carry out specific tasks either commercially or industrially. In other cases, people just enjoy flying drones and take it up as more of a hobby. There are many different types of drones nowadays which come in all shapes and sizes. All these drones have different specs which makes them more ideal for certain situations.

DJI Inspire 1 & 2

When looking for a high tech professional drone with all the features provided to make stunning videography and imagery, look no further than the DJI Inspire series. Here at Blue Whale Media, we have the inspire 2 drone which is perfect for us in order to create high-level imagery and footage. The inspire 1 was a revelation as it was the first filmmaking drone to have HD video transmission, a 4k camera with a 360-degree rotating gimbal. As well as that, its simplicity of control was second to none. The inspire 2 takes everything that is great about the inspire 2 and improves it. With a top speed of 58mph and a flight time of 27 minutes this drone truly is a breakthrough in professional filmmaking. It is by far the best pound for pound best drone in the market.

DJI Mavic 2

DJI has recently released another drone into their collection, introducing a new member into the Mavic family. The Mavic series consists of small, lightweight and portable drones with massive capabilities in photography and videography. As already mentioned DJI has released a new Mavic 2 drone which is being described as the safest and intelligent drone in the world. With the Mavic 2, they have released two different alternatives, one being the PRO and the other being the ZOOM. The Mavic 2 PRO has parted up with Hasselblad a Swedish manufacturer of cameras and photography equipment. You buy this drone mainly through the capabilities the camera holds. The Hasselblad camera which is attached to the drone has a 1inch CMOS Sensor, 10-bit Dlog-M colour profile and HDR Video. The Mavic 2 Zoom is the first DJI drone with the ability to zoom the camera in and out to have more flexibility when trying to get a shot of a subject. With the new camera, it is also released a dolly zoom feature which is great for adding stunning effects to shots.

DJI Phantom

I would describe the DJI Phantom drone as an all-around good drone. It inherits a good camera, good flying capabilities and is overall a safe and intelligent drone to fly. The Phantom 4 pro 2.0 is the newest drone to the Phantom series. This drone has a 4k camera shooting at 60fps. It also has 5 directions of obstacle sensing and 4 directions of obstacle avoidance making it very safe in the air.

DJI Spark

The DJI Spark is a mini-drone that features all of DJI’s signature technologies. With intelligent flight control options and a camera with incredible image quality, the spark is perfect for pushing the creative boundaries. The DJI Spark is definitely more suitable for the consumer market as it is cheaper with all the capabilities needed for a hobbyist.

Drones in the Future

I believe drones will get better and better at times going on. Drone manufacturers will be constantly thinking of new ways in which they can take their drones to the next level. I think they will not only focus on the intelligent aspects of the drone but the safety aspects as well as creating safer airspace for all that are using it.
