My Apprenticeship at Blue Whale Media – Ben Smart

I started my apprenticeship in May 2022 with Blue Whale Media whilst also carrying out my daily and weekly duties as PA to the Directors. The apprenticeship is a Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor. Throughout this, I will learn the importance of team leading, supervising and how to best execute the fundamentals and ideals of team leading at Blue Whale Media. As part of the apprenticeship, I will have to complete 8 dissertations at 2,000 words each, 3 mock assessments and a final assessment within 18 months alongside my role as PA.

In the first meeting with my tutor, we went through the different modules I will learn and complete and how they relate to becoming a successful team leader/supervisor. Some of these include decision-making, communication, project management, finance, etc. This was incredibly helpful as it allowed me to better understand what the next 18 months will entail for me. Another essential part of my learning will include carrying out 1 to 1’s with a team of my own comprised of some of the other apprentices at Blue Whale Media.

Once I have completed this apprenticeship, I fully intend to stay at Blue Whale Media and move on to the next stage of management, which would be the Level 5 Apprenticeship in Operations/Department Management.

The enrolment stage is taking place over the next couple of weeks, and I am very much looking forward to the next stages of my career.
